The Captain's Tea Pot 2015

The Captain's Teapot was an interactive teapot commissioned for Carmarthen Museum in Wales. It commemorates the sinking of the Royal Charter Ship which sunk off the Welsh coast in 1859. The piece uses a motion sensor to activate a light and a servo motor within the body of the teapot, exploiting the translucency of bone china to illustrate the sinking ship, while simultaneously rattling the lid as if on stormy seas. The film shows the piece on show at the British Ceramics Biennial  Award Exhibition in in the Spode China Works, in Stoke on Trent  in 2015
