The Ceramophone
The Ceramophone was created by I.Murphy and J.Pigott and first exhibited as part of 'Seen and Unseen' 2018. The venues included Ruthin Craft Centre, Mission Gallery Swansea,
Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre and Aberystwyth Arts Centre
It uses an gramophone from the 1940's to play a series of lustred patterned plates. Viewers are invited to play the plates and are rewarded with a percussive reaction as an optical stylus differentiates between the lustred and non-lustred surface of the plate, this is accompanied by flashing lights and golden lustred balls bounce within the speakers.
